SST, or the Student Study Team, is a support system designed to help students who are struggling in the regular classroom. The team consists of teachers, administrators, support personnel, and sometimes a special education teacher, as well as the student and parent. The goal of the SST is to examine the student’s academic, behavioral, and social-emotional progress, propose interventions, and develop a plan for success. The interventions could range from modifications in the classroom environment to additional support such as homework clubs or specialized assessments for special education services.
